Ann prosecutes and defends in both Crown and Magistrates Courts in all areas of crime including serious offences of violence, sexual offences, dishonesty and fraud, and drugs. Multi-handed youth and adult offenders both prosecuting and defending as well as offenders with mental health issues.
She recently completed a year long case defending in Youth Court which involved ten charges of sexual offending and required an Intermediary for the offender throughout the proceedings, following reports from 3 forensic psychiatrists.
Defending in Reading Crown Court a youth on violent robbery which involved cross examination via videolink of an autistic young witness.
R – v – Baker
Ann represented the Defendant at the Central Criminal Court (“The Bailey”), for cultivation of cannabis, and a subsequent Proceeds of Crime application for confiscation, managing a successful negotiation reducing the sum claimed by approximately £50,000.
Ann practises chiefly in the area relating to child proceedings including contact, abductions, non-molestation and public family work including opposed adoption from local authority applications.
Recently Ann successfully acted for the Respondent father in an application for children to be taken permanently out of the jurisdiction, preventing their removal from his regular contact and care. The case involved sensitive issues in relation to religion and recent case law supporting relocation.
Currently she is involved in a case involving a local authorities application for children to be taken into care with various issues involving natural and step parents and opposing applications.
Ann regularly appears in tribunals for employees on grounds of racial and sexual discrimination.
